What's in season in September?

After the long, hot Summer, I'm so ready for Autumn, and now September's here it's surely just around the corner. I'm looking forward to crisp mornings and cooler evenings. Leaves slowly changing to their Autumn colours...

And of course, the new season's produce! September's delicious fruits and vegetables are appearing in the shops just in time for our Rosh Hashanah meals.

Below you'll find recipes that are perfect for YomTov, that make the best of September's fresh and delicious produce. But first, here's some idea of what to look out for when browsing your local greengrocers, farm shops, markets or supermarkets.

Veg - Beetroots, Broccoli πŸ₯¦, Butternut Squash, Cabbages πŸ₯¬, Carrots πŸ₯•, Cauliflower, Courgettes πŸ₯’, Kale, Kohlrabi, Leeks, Marrows, Parsnips, Pumpkins πŸŽƒ, Spinach, Sweetcorn 🌽, Swiss Chard, Tomatoes πŸ… and Turnips.

Fruit - Apples 🍏, Blackberries, Damsons, Figs, Greengages 🍈, Melons, Pears 🍐, Plums and Raspberries.

There are also still lots of fresh herbs about - my garden plot is still providing plenty of sage, mint, basil, chives, thyme and many more, so be generous with the fragrant foliage while it lasts.
