Hello again my friend!
I hope you had a wonderful Shavuot and were able to enjoy the gorgeous weather we've been having recently.
My email this week is all about breakfast. Often dubbed "the most important meal of the day", it's sadly all-too-easy to overlook a good breakfast in the bustle of the morning rush. However a well-balanced, nutritious breakfast can set the tone for your whole day. Choose wisely and you'll fill up with slow-release energy to keep your mind sharp and your metabolism humming. Plus you can curb those mid-morning hunger pangs that can lead to unhealthy snacking or a grumpy disposition! Eating a healthy, filling breakfast is like fuelling your car before a long journey. You don't want the fuel light to come on before lunch, do you?!
Give yourself the breakfast you deserve by choosing healthy foods that are packed with essential nutrients and delectable flavours. Simple options like nut butter and berries on wholegrain sourdough toast, or scrambled eggs with sliced vegetables, can be power-packed meals that give your body all the good things it needs to start the day. Add a rainbow of fruits, whole grains, proteins, and healthy fats and breakfast can go from a mundane munch to something altogether magical!
Recently I've been enjoying chia pudding with yogurt as my breakfast of choice. It's light, creamy and delicious and fills me up till lunchtime with its excellent balance of protein, fibre and healthy fats. I like it topped with fresh summer berries, or sliced banana and crunchy seeds, but the options are endless. You can find my recipe and all the details here. β
Below you'll find more of my favourite healthy breakfasts that are perfect now that the weather is warmer - no hot bowls of porridge here! Why not enjoy a delicious, nutritious breakfast outdoors? Let's make the most of Summer!

Delicious breakfasts to start your day off right
Below are some of my favourite breakfast recipes to set you up for the day and power you through till lunchtime, and beyond!
βIsraeli breakfast platterβ Filled with fresh vegetables, cheese, eggs and olives, this filling wholesome breakfast always feels like holidays to me!
βHomemade granola with apple and honeyβ Crunchy and delicious, enjoy it with yogurt and fruit, or simply add milk for a quick and nutritious bowl of cereal.
βEasy banana sconesβ Put your spotty bananas to good use! These naturally sweet banana scones can be made in advance and enjoyed for breakfast with butter, jams, nut butter, honey, or any combination!
βEasy mixed berry chia jamβ Chia seeds are bursting with protein and fibre, and provide the thickener in this super-fruity sugar-free jam. So simple, and perfect on toast, swirled into yogurt, or a a banana scone!
βBircher muesli (overnight oats) with berries and nutsβ Naturally high in heart-healthy beta-glucans, oats provide slow-release energy and fibre too. Berries and nuts add antioxidants, vitamins and essential minerals.
βSugar-free breakfast muffins with granola toppingβ A wonderful, naturally sweetened make ahead breakfast packed with nutritious ingredients like fruit, veg and whole grains. Delicious plain, or split and buttered.
βFruit and nut yogurt parfaits Delicious pots of fresh berries, creamy nut butter and yogurt, in beautiful layers, topped off with crunchy flaked almonds.
βSeven species granola barsβ Made with the Biblical seven species, these chewy bars have a unique flavour and are a tasty, nutritious breakfast or snack.
βThe best fruit saladβ βA big fruit salad will keep in the fridge for a couple of days, so you can shovel out a portion for breakfast with almost no effort! Did you know that fruit salad fills you up for longer than the same amount of fruit in a smoothie? Read this to discover why.
When the weather is warmer, classic Shabbat dishes like kugel, cholent, hot soup and the like are altogether too much! It's cold dishes and salads all the way, in my opinion.
This Italian tuna and white bean salad, served in crispy lettuce cups is easy to make, delicious, and cool and refreshing on a hot day. They're easy to serve as a starter, or simply add them to a menu of fish and salads for a delicious and beautiful option.

Hello again my friend! Did you treat yourself to one of the delicious and nutritious breakfasts in last week's email? I'd love to hear what you enjoyed, so do hit reply and tell me! I finally planted out my vegetable plants in the garden, and while it will be a few weeks before we get to eat anything home grown, it's really not a problem as the shops and markets are packed to the gills with abundant fresh and delicious local produce. June really heralds the start of summer and all the foodie...
Hello again my friend! I'm popping quickly into your inbox this week to wish you a Chag Shavuot Sameach - a very happy Shavuot! Now is the time to celebrate with family and friends as we recall the ancient spring harvest festival, and our ancestors standing at Mt Sinai to receive the Torah. May the next few days be a joyful, festive reminder of our rich history and beautiful traditions. Chag Sameach! Last minute recipe ideas! I'm sure you have all your YomTov menus planned and your cooking...
Hello my friend! One more week and it's Erev Shavuot! Crikey, that's snuck up on me... On the plus side, Shavuot always heralds the start of Summer for me, which can only be a good thing. Hello al fresco meals, sunny afternoons in the garden, strolls in the open air, and the general positive vibes of warm weather, long evenings and all the rest. Bring it on! Our Shavuot will be a fairly low-key, family-oriented affair this year, as my daughter is in the middle of GCSEs, so keeping things calm...
