Let's get ready for Rosh Hashanah!

Hello there my friend!

Are you starting to think about Rosh Hashanah and the rest of the chagim? With the High Holyday season fast approaching, I've begun to rifle through notebooks for last year's menus, think about who will be joining us for meals, and make vague plans about what to cook.

If your family and friends are like mine, I'm sure there will be a whole assortment of dietary requirements to cater for! But would you be surprised to know that it's completely possible to make just one menu that suits everyone at the table, regardless of their food restrictions?

My ebook ENTERTAINING GUESTS WITH SPECIAL DIETS gives you my tried-and-tested simple approach to making delicious festive meals that ALL your guests can enjoy, using the recipes that you already know, use, and love!

So to help you prepare, I'm running a Rosh Hashanah sale where you can get an instant download of the book for just £10. Use code JUSTATENNER at checkout for this special deal.

As well as the ebook you'll also get three amazing bonuses:

  • my common food substitutions cheat sheet
  • a special diets meal planner that you can print and fill in
  • printable information labels to highlight any problem ingredients and keep your guests safe and happy!

The Rosh Hashanah sale ends at midnight on 30 September. But if you want to get the best value from this ebook, buy it now so you have time to read it and put it into practice before the cooking starts!
Don't forget it and regret it!

Remember, use code JUSTATENNER to snag this bargain!

I'll be sharing Rosh Hashanah food and menus from next week, but if you just can't wait, click here for all of my RH recipes, articles and ideas.

End of summer treats to ease us back into the old routine...

By the time you receive next week's email, September will be here, schools will have gone back, and the long Summer hols will be receding into memory.

Which means it's time for one last treat, a final taste of the holidays, and something tasty to ease the transition back into the old routine.

Get the kettle on, make yourself a cuppa, and enjoy one of these lovely recipes. (They go well in lunchboxes too!)

  • Favourite chocolate pecan cookies
A nutritious and delicious gluten-free treat, disguised as an indulgent chocolate chip cookie! A family favourite here. (Contains nuts.)
  • Stuffed monkey kichels
Sweet kichel dough wrapped around a spiced, dried fruit filling. A Jewish favourite popular in the North of England and South Africa 🤷🏻‍♀️
  • Sweet hawaij coffee cookies
A deliciously fragrant, caffeinated cookie! Made with real coffee and a sweet hawaij spice blend, these are perfect for dunking, and definitely give you a little boost. (Or maybe it's a placebo!)
  • Blueberry slices
A gorgeous dessert or teatime treat, with a fresh fruit filling baked inside. I love blueberries, but any soft fruits, such as cherries or apricots, will work.
  • Seeded maple spice cookies
If you're ready for Autumn's warming flavours, these quick and easy cookies are just the ticket. Rolled in seeds for added crunch, taste and nutrition!
  • Dutch ginger cake squares
These moist, spicy cake bars are a perfect nibble for elevenses. Leave the nuts off the top to make them packed-lunch friendly.
  • Seven species granola bars
Chewy and delicious, these nutritious bars are made using the seven biblical species associated with the Land of Israel!
  • Pear and apple crumble cake (vegan)
A scrumptious fruity cake that makes the most of the season's apples and pears. Try it warm with custard as a pud, or allow to cool and slice into squares.

Shabbat Shalom

As we cruise towards the end of the school holiday, the start of the new school term, and the impending Chagim, I hope you're finding a moment to relax! Get outside and enjoy the late Summer sunlight. It's good for you!

Here's wishing you and yours a lovely weekend and a great week ahead. Shabbat Shalom - Good Shabbos! - to one and all. May it bring us health, happiness, peace, and many blessings.

With love, Helen x.

Hello my friend, Tomorrow, 21 November, is World Hello Day! This annual global event began in response to the Yom Kippur War between Egypt and Israel in 1973. On World Hello Day, everyone is encouraged to greet at least 10 others with a cheery 'hello'. The organisers hope that these simple greetings will encourage the use of communication rather than force to settle conflicts. World Hello Day has been observed in 180 countries, as a small way to express a sincere wish for world peace. I hope...

Hello again my friend! Is there anything better on a cold, grey, November day, than entering a warm and cosy kitchen, filled with the aroma of a delicious dinner as it burbles away on the stove or in the oven? These are the days when I get the dinner on early, and the kitchen really does become the heart of the home. Pop the kettle on and browse a cookbook while your ingredients turn themselves into something tasty and nutritious. Hearty Winter meals always soothe the soul in a way that a...
